in-cosmetics 2008 Preview

15-17 April 2008, RAI Amsterdam, The Netherlands

in-cosmetics, the leading global business platform for personal care ingredients, is taking place from 15-17 April 2008 at the Amsterdam RAI, The Netherlands. Gathering over 430 exhibitors to provide the perfect mix of innovation, expertise and networking opportunities, the show will offer a huge range of scientific, technical and commercial content.

Innovation Zone – NEW for 2008

The Innovation Zone – a new feature sponsored by Astron Clinica and managed in association with Mintel GNPD Cosmetic Research – will provide a "one-stop" location for visitors to quickly identify the key industry launches. The Innovation Zone will not only display the exhibitors' new products, it will also invite visitors to discover the most innovative finished products specifically selected to illustrate four key global trends (Beauty Food, Authenticity, Customisation and Faux Genomics). Visitors will be able to sample some of the latest food and beauty products from around the world in a series of interactive "Beauty Tasting Sessions". Mintel consultants will be on hand to offer personalised advice and opinion on all of the trends and products featured.

Cosmetic Science Conference

An essential element will be the 2-day high-profile Cosmetic Science Conference* (CSC) on 16-17 April. Organised by SŐFW, sponsored by Cosmetochem and aimed at bench chemists and product formulators, the CSC will offer the latest developments in Naturals (16 April) and Skin Ageing (17 April). The sessions will be hosted by internationally renowned scientists and technologists including Prof. Dr. Leonhard Zastrow, Senior Vice President, Coty Lancaster and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Lademann, Professor of Dermatology, Charité. For a flavour of what's in store, podcast interviews from a selection of speakers can be watched on the in-cosmetics website.

in-focus Utopia

In 2006 Amazonia, the first edition of in-focus, put under scrutiny the development of natural cosmetics formulated with exotic herbal extracts from the Rainforest. Last year's in-focus, Aphrodisia, cast its prospective light on sensual products – cosmetics capable of liberating beauty from the abstract realm of Ideas. This year, in Amsterdam, in-focus embarks on a new and bold journey to explore Utopia - the vast world of personal care products with a philosophy. The platform will feature some of the most advanced R&D laboratories and consultancies to address critical questions relating to the very essence of our industry: What are the ultimate purposes of beauty product? What is the definition of a "perfect skin"? To which degree of precision can we replicate the skin to decipher its metabolism? Can molecules mimic the components of the skin?

The feature will be supported on 15 April by an inspirational programme of free-to-attend presentations to gain a global overview of the most advanced product claims, learn from the latest findings in biology and physics and build a responsible and sustainable vision of product development. Speakers include Nica Lewis from Mintel, Dr. Anne de Brugerolle de Fraissinette, CEO of SkinEthic Laboratories / L'Oréal Recherche and Dr. Mihail D. Barboiu from The European Membrane Institute.

Marketing Trends Presentations

In the past year, climate change, global warming and other environmental issues have become headline news, affecting the way that consumers purchase and companies do business. This year's in-cosmetics Marketing Trends Presentations* devote a whole day (15 April) to green issues and their importance to the beauty industry. Speakers from leading market research organisations, agencies and companies operating within the natural/organic sector will present.

The cosmetics and toiletries markets should no longer be viewed in isolation but as part of a wider industry that includes food and dietary supplements and other self-styled holistic products, professional salon treatments and plastic surgery. On April 16-17, the presentations will examine how the beauty markets are evolving and drawing on influences from other consumer industries.

Innovations Seminars

The free-to-attend Innovations Seminars*, presented by exhibitors, will be another highlight of the show and will identify the practical and commercial applications of products and services. Key exhibitors such as Ciba, CP Kelco, DSM, Evonik Goldschmidt, ISP, Rohm and Haas and many more will be presenting their latest developments and explaining in-depth their formulation techniques.

Exciting and powerful online planning tools

Entry to the exhibition is free of charge for visitors registering at www.in-cosmetics.com by 7 April 2008. Onsite registration will cost €45. Before the event, all pre-registered visitors will receive a Preview Magazine, regular email updates and will be able to book their seat for the Marketing Trends Presentations. They will also gain access to the "My Event Planner" to help them maximise their time at the show and a personal Online Diary to book appointments with exhibitors and fellow visitors.

Mission-Amsterdam Game

in-cosmetics launched "Mission-Amsterdam", an exciting online game to promote the exhibition.

All players are transported into the unique atmosphere of Amsterdam by taking a virtual tour of the surrounding tulip fields, canals, museums and red light district before arriving at the exhibition. On the way players will need to collect as many hidden flowers as possible in the quickest time to score. Bonus points will be awarded when forwarding the game to colleagues. The top 50 scoring players will win exciting prizes ranging from iPhone and iPods to bottles of champagne. Plus, players with the top 300 scores will be entered into a prize draw to win another iPhone. To play, visit www.mission-amsterdam.com
